| Abstract | Abstract This article deals with lifelong learning in the perspective of individual life-histories. The author examines examples of learning experiences which have shaped the life-course of the subject or have changed or influenced his or her identity. The nature, form and social context of these significant learning experiences are examined, with a particular focus on empowerment and transformation. The data used was collected by means of interviews with people from various social and cultural backgrounds. Assuming that we are moving towards an era of lifelong learning, what does this mean at the level of the individual life? The present article addresses this question in the light of the data collected. |
